She began acting when she was 13 years old. Her acting debut came when she was 13 years old in 1997. Following her studies and acting as a background actor on Canadian series such as Road to Avonlea, Harriet the Spy and Goosebumps and was offered an interview on the Canadian horror program Are You Scared of The Dark? and Goosebumps. The two series were broadcast by YTV. [2] After commercials and the guest-starring role on Mutant X, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story, Goosebumps, Twice in a Lifetime, Doc, Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Troubled Waters, The Dresden Files, along with a handful of Disney Channel original movies (Mom's Got A Date with a Vampire and Alley Cats Strike), at the age of 19, going to York University where she was studying Psychology and English. She was offered the lead role of Sadie Harrison in the CTV Teen Drama series Instant Star, which was on for four seasons. Vandervoort was able to make her feature film debut in 2006, with The Lookout. She starred in the film alongside Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Matthew Goode was also there. Vandervoort's TV career started with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In the following season, she was cast in the part of Clark Kent's Kryptonian Cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who became Supergirl) on The CW serial-drama Smallville. Her appearances in season seven and eight of the show were as a season regular, "Bloodline". She was back on Smallville to appear in two episodes in the finale season that was her 10th season. Vandervoort produced the sequel in the series Into the Blue, titled Into the Blue 2 - The Reef. Then, she shot an independently produced film titled The Jazzman, which also starred Canadian actors Michael Ironside (who appeared in the second V miniseries as well as the 1984 V regular series) and Corey Sevier Kristen Kristen Kristen Kristen Kristen Kristen
